Before it all Happens

We are about to embark on a rather exciting adventure. Part of the excitement stem from the fact that we have been waiting nearly two months to get going on this adventure and now it appears to be about to happen. More about the adventure later.

First a short explanation of the title and name of the Blog.

I always used to joke that if I ever write my memoirs it will be called: The Tale of the Pale Male. In South Africa the Afrikaner/white/pale male has gone through various stages of relevance to the community and I have experienced a couple of these stages. The new adventure we are about to embark on, fortunately includes my wife Regina as well and therefore the title: Tales of the Pales.

The name BunduBoere also has a bit of history behind it. My previous attempt at a Blog was done during my short stay in Casablanca, Morocco and was called Boer In Casablanca and I went under the name BoerInCasa.

BunduBoere refers to the the places where this upcoming adventure can take us. We have been given a job to be part of a telecommunication project in Rural Namibia. Some of the places we have to visit are really off the beaten track.

For most of the next six months we will be traversing the Rural areas of Namibia with our Toyota Fortuner which has been prepared for the occasion with a special load bay, where the second row of seats were. We now have space for eight ammo boxes and a fridge. We also have a roof-top tent where we plan to sleep most nights while on the road. Hopefully some customers will have pity on us and give us a room once in a while.

Part of the current excitement arise from the news that the trip could become a reality in the next week. We have been ready to embark on this adventure for about six weeks now. Every week there was some reason why it had to be postponed. Now it all appears to have been resolved and we plan to leave Cape Town for Namibia on Wednesday morning.

We hope to publish the next post when we are on the road.
